Politics and Christianity: Franky Schaeffer Is Just Plain Silly

One of the problems with having lots of liberal friends is that they think it is their duty to make you aware of all their favorite Huffington Post and Daily Kos articles. Doubly so when it is someone like Franky Schaeffer.

Franky's recent column in the Huffington Post has prompted my liberal friends to fill by inbox with emails asking "Have you seen this?"

Well, yes I have seen it and I am completely unimpressed.

Franky went from being edgy to just plain silly several years ago. In half a dozen places in this article he denies in one sentence what he affirmed in the previous sentence. It is impossible to take someone seriously who engages in this kind of self-referentially absurd speech.

When Franky turned his back on the Faith of his father and mother, he evidently also turned his back on Reason. Very sad, very sad indeed.

Comment Policy

1. Speak the truth in love
Comments containing untruths and misrepresentations will be deleted unless we think it more important that they be corrected by dialogue with other readers of Politics and Christianity.

Truth is not always pretty, and attempts to clarify can sometimes be cutting (e.g. satire, irony, etc.). However, every attempt should be made to keep comments within the bounds of Christian civility.

2. Don't use words that your Momma wouldn't like
Comments with abusive, blasphemous, coarse, crude, dirty, disrespectful, filthy, foul, godless, impious, impure, indecent, irreverent, nasty, obscene, profane, raunchy, sacrilegious, smutty, or vulgar language will be deleted post-haste. Euphemisms and abbreviations of an ungodly nature are included in the preceding list.

3. Stay on-topic
What you are saying may be very interesting, but it will probably be deleted if it does not relate to the post on which it is appended.

4. No drive-bys
Comments that appear to be cut-and-paste propaganda, rather than attempts to dialogue, will be deleted.

5. Don't assume too much
Sometimes we will respond to your comment and other times we will not; so, (a) do not think we are uninterested in what you have to say if we do not respond, and (b) do not assume that we agree with someone just because we do not respond, -- we actively practice both Proverbs 26:4 and Proverbs 26:5.

6. Publish your ideas instead
If you have more than a few paragraphs to share on a topic, consider submitting it to the editors of Politics and Christianity for publication as a separate article, rather than as a comment. You can submit articles for consideration to editor@politicsandchristianity.com.

7. You retort, we decide
There is no board of arbitration on the issues cited above. The editors of Politics and Christianity are the final authority on what appears here.
